Repairs and Alterations to listed former Rectory
Client: Private Client | Hertfordshire
The house, with back areas dating from the C18 , was built in the 1830s and progressively extended in the 19C and the early 20C.
Formerly a Rectory, the front garden was also the main way into the house. The rear courtyard was very unprepossessing. The challenge was to turn it into the main entrance – to allow the front garden to be private.
The rear areas were reconfigured and a curved first floor extension was built for an ensuite bathroom. It was conservatively repaired and all services and decorations were renewed.
The kitchen has a white concrete floor with matching worktops, upstands and skirtings to match. An English elm table wrapped around a stack is a centre feature.
